How to pull external data into a custom field as selectable options

Jira Data Center 10.5.3 LTS

I'm trying to figure out how to pull external data into a custom field as options for that field.

Example: In a custom issue template on "Create"

User selects SVM which is a custom field.

SVM is a text field and when the user clicks in the text field they see multiple options that are generated upon selection of the SVM field

the user may select one item from the list.

How can I have the SVM field reach out to a remote server and read a file which has a list of currently available SVMs and then display those as options in the SVM custom field?
I was looking for a way to do this in Scriptrunner without success. I'm also open to any other plugin or other third party options to achieve this.

Hi @Team Platform Admin , check out Elements Connect. It can fetch data from SQL databases and REST APIs to populate custom fields.
