How to automate JIRA Test issue workflow in backlog when Xray test plans are executed

Hello, 

We have a JIRA software project setup and added XRay to manage test execution. Currently, when we add / create an issue type "Test" in JIRA, which is a test case in XRay, it by default will be assigned the default workflow associated with our main backlog issue screen.  When we are executing tests in Xray, nothing happens to the issue in JIRA; The status remains unchanged and we have to manually update the status of the ticket(s) in JIRA.  How can we setup Xray and/or Jira so that the JIRA status / workflow is tied to the test execution(s) in Xray?

Welcome to the community!

Xray Cloud offers some guardrails from a worflow prespective which can prevent certain executions given the workflow. You may want to look here under "Workflow Statuses".

However to help you with the Jira Automation workflow, I would suggest you reach out to reach out to Jira Support.
