Set individual checklist item due date based on custom field

Hi all - I would like to create a custom field in a card, for 'application deadline' which when populated with a date, updates the tasks with dates based on the date that was put in the custom field box.

I already have the checklist in the card, and need it to stay so people have a template or can look when needed. So the option of automating adding checklist only when the custom field is populated would not work, as without a dat people would not be able to see the steps if they were curious.

 

Any advice on this? Is it even possible?

You can absolutely do this with Trello's automation. Here's a quick rundown:

1. Set up an automation rule that triggers when the custom field "Application Deadline" is set to a date.

2. For each item in your checklist (let's say it's called "Checklist of Tasks"), set the item's due date to match the date in the "Application Deadline" custom field.

It should look something like this:

when custom field "Application Deadline" is set to a date, for each checklist item in a checklist named "Checklist of Tasks", set the item due on the date in custom field "Application Deadline" 

Just replace "Checklist of Tasks" with whatever your checklist is actually named. This way, your checklist stays visible, and the due dates update automatically when you set the application deadline.
