How to trigger automation by Clone operation ?

Hello community!

I have to perform some actions on clone (at the end of cloning operation) so I need to catch something like “Issue Cloned” event which is not on the System events list. My first try was to create automation triggered by Issue Created and additionally check that Cloners link type is presented. Simple but ….. it doesn’t work.

During Clone operation, when Clone event is raised links are not presented yet!

When I check the same property manually, the link type Cloners is available

Which is leading to conclusion that Clone = Create + “some actions” (including add Cloners type link) so this is the reason why Cloners type link is not available at the moment of Create event.

The question is – how to performing action on clone just at the end of cloning process?

Welcome to the Atlassian community.

You can add a Re-fetch Issue Data action after the Issue Created trigger to add a little delay giving time for the links to be created.

Alternately you can use the Issue Linked trigger to trigger the rule after the link is created.
