Showing strikethrough in new subtasks

For one board when we create a subtask for a task ticket a strikethrough happens straight away before anything has been do with the subtask.

Ie this issue in screenshot in in To Do status, subtasks have been created and are all in To DO status but they have a strikethrough them all.

A strikethrough  on the issue key is used to indicate work is complete.

Every Jira Status value is assigned to a Status Category, and the Status Categories are color coded:

Category	Color
To Do	gray
In Progress	blue
Done	green

Jira assumes that a status in the "Done" status category means that issues in that status have their work completed. And in a Work Management project it will automatically set the Resolution field and another indicator that the work is complete.

I notice that the color of the lozenge for the status of those issues is green.

 

It appears that your "To Do" status value has gotten assigned to the "Done" status category. This could've happened in a number of ways. Now we need to fix it.

Can you show us the Board for the project, showing the column headers that show each status? I want to confirm that your "To Do" column is not the column farthest to the right, and that you do have a column on the right that has an appropriate green/Done status.

Is your project Team Managed or Company Managed? It will say which it is at the bottom of the panel on the left.

 

If it is a Team Managed project, then a Project Administrator for the project can fix the problem. That would be done by going to Project Settings > Issues, selecting the Sub-task issue type, and then Editing the workflow. Then you would click on the "To Do" status in the workflow diagram, and in the panel on the right change the Category to "To Do".

 

 

Then you would save the workflow.

 

If the project is Company Managed then the steps are a bit more complicated, and could impact other projects.
