Comparing contents of a custom "Select list (Single choice)" field with ScriptRunner

I have a "Select list (Single choice)" custom field that can have a value of "Yes", "Pending", and "NA". How can I check this custom field for "Pending"in a transition using ScriptRunner script? I tried using cfValues['Field Name'] == "Pending" but it didn't work. Probably because I am comparing a list to a text string.
