User links in imported task

Question

Hi I am trying to import new tasks via a csv file. I want to add a link to a user inside the description of the issue.

I tried to use the

[~username]

However no matter what I tried to replace "username" with I did not get a link

I tried:

* firstname.lastname
* Firstname Lastname
* firstname.lastname@companyname.com (our emails)
* User ID (something like this: 16316:jf498u43-3f4r-3cvf-f4v3-c3f4f4f43r)
* User ID without : (something like this: 16316%3Ajf498u43-3f4r-3cvf-f4v3-c3f4f4f43r)

No matter what I got the same results I only got it to type out 
@[deleted]
and it said the user could not be found.

What is it that am I missing here?

Oh ok thank you I was reading about it in the documentation but did not realize it was comments only.

This will only work on CSV import on comments, this is the only option I have seen user mention work on.

I do suggest to raise an issue at Atlassian Support on the matter, or search the Atlassian public jira to see if there is a related issue.

I also tried

* firstname.lastname@companyname.atlassian.net

but that also gave the faulty link
