Account for connecting Azure AD

What kind of Microsoft account is needed when you want the make use of the "Connect and sync Azure AD for nested groups" to sync users and groups from Azure AD to Atlassian Access?

I suspect it will be a Service Principal account, but the documentation is not clear about that. And if so, what kind of Graph API access is needed for this account?

You can connect to Azure AD for nested groups with either one of these roles on Azure AD: Global Administrator, cloud Application Administrator, or Application Administrator
