How to move from one status to another status

Hi,

Need Help! when a user moves the issue to approved, it should move the issue to Closed status. 

Closed transition has a Transition Screen with Resolution field with "Done" and "Cancelled". 

I want to write an automation when the user moves to Approved status , they should automatically move to Closed status , select resolution has "Done"

There's several approaches to this but it will require add-ons or automation tools. 

 

If you have project automation for Jira, you can automated this by looking for tickets transition to Approved Status to take an action to move to Closed status and set resolution. 

 

To make it simpler, if it's always going to be in closed status when approved, you may want to look at having transition called "approve" to go to status "close". So, there's no automation required.
