Old and New Value - Jira automation

Hi 

Is it possible to get the old and new value from a number field if the old value is NEW

Old Value: {{fieldChange.fromString|EMPTY}} 

New Value: {{fieldChange.toString|EMPTY}}

For example, in a brand new Jira ticket, I enter the value: 5 for a field called: Score

 

Old Score Value: 

New Score Value: 5

 

However if now I go back to edit the Jira ticket, I enter the value 7 for a field called: Score

Old Score Value: 5

New Score: 7

 

Is there a way to show in the first scenario Old Score Value: Empty instead of blank?

Hi @Mary Mark 

I recall from another post the answer is, "no".  Although if you post images your complete rule details the community may be able to suggest a work-around.

The reason for this symptom appears to be {{from}} and {{fromString}} on the transition from "nothing" to the initially created issue are undefined.  And so when those smart values are accessed in the {{changelog}} or {{fieldChange}} they instead contain whatever the initialized object is, and that appears to not expose {{from}} as a value.
