Upgrade from 8.19.1 to 9.5 error at JIRA startup

Question

This is JIRA Server with Oracle 12c.

All seemed to go fine, but then the installer doesn't say much.  Clicked to startup JIRA.

It opened up the browser, but rather than the JIRA starting up screen, it just gave errors.jsp.

I have log files under /logs but don't know what I am really looking for.

I had an Automation Lite plugin in 8.19.1 and that's about it.

What should I be looking at and how do I fix this please?

Start with a look at the application log - that will usually tell you what the problem is, usually in a lot more detail than errors.jsp These logs tend to be quite long and have a lot of tracing data for developers in them - you can ignore 95% of the lines in them - essentially, if it's indented a bit, it's part of a code trace and you don't really care about it. The non-indented lines are the more useful ones for you. Some of them will be written in plain English and hopefully, there should be one that tells you what the problem is, like "can't connect to database" or "wrong version of Java" The one to start with is /logs/atlassian-jira.log If there's nothing in there, then look to /logs/catalina.out
