How to count unique committers over time?

Question

We're looking for the number of unique committers to repositories in our workspace over the last 6 months.

We'd like to count only active users (e.g. ignore committers who are no longer with the company).

Can this be done using the Bitbucket Cloud API?

Unfortunately, at present, the API will not show whether or not a user is active - or what their total commit count is. I have raised this as a feature request to our developers on your behalf, however:

In the meantime, you can use the GIT command below on a per-repository basis that will show individual users who have committed in the last 6 months, and the number of commits they have contributed:

git shortlog -s -n --all --since 2022-06-01
