Best Practice for using Assets in Jira for someone with no Asset Management in place

Hey there,

Per the subject, speaking with a small team of people who want to use Jira (40 people) and they want to start track assets and such but they have nothing in place now.

Would it be a good idea to have a form where they can add / update details for assets into 'Assets'.  Just thinking that it may be an easier mechanism as opposed to going into Assets directly to find and edit objects.

What's the feel from the community for introducing asset management into a business when they have actually nothing in place now and how to create / edit their objects.

you could consider using a Jira asset management app like STAGIL Assets that uses native Jira issues, fields and workflows for asset management and therefore ships with higher flexibility. It is also based on the native Jira forms.

yeh I have a whole idea about a form driven approach but there is still no word on the Assets fields being available on forms, being able to leverage conditional visibility with a whole 'asset management' form would be great.

Hi Steven:

For your team members, are they all agents for your JSM env?  If so, then they can just access Assets option from the project UI menu dropdown to manage their Assets schema.

Or, you can also utilize automation rule setup to invoke Assets custom actions to manage objects based on your triggering event/conditions setup -
