how to track the “Moved Issues” between projects

Question

Any idea how to track the “Moved Issues” between projects? Namely, I want to track where the original issue goes to.

Say i have moved issue from project A to project B then to project C but i want to see which all projects issue has been moved to track its move history

Hi @Dayanand

As you're on Jira Server, the correct answer is to get an app that provides JQL extensions you're looking for.

With standard JQL, you can only get a list of issues and export them to Excel for further processing. This works if you want to do a one-off analysis. If your use case is more dynamic than that, look beyond standard Jira.

Standard JQL doesn't easily allow it, but you can quickly find the results using our professional indexing service JQL Search Extensions

Finds issues that moved from the project in an argument. For instance:

project = SEARCHSERVER AND issue in movedIssues("SEARCHCLOUD")

With this query, you will find all issues which are in project SEARCHSERVER and were moved from project SEARCHCLOUD.

Dear @Dayanand ,

By default, this is not possible with JQL searches. (Dear community members, correct me if I'm wrong). Perhaps you can achieve the same by using Scriptrunner to do an advanced search, or by running the appropriate query directly against the database.
However, if in the future you need to identify issues that are moving from one project to another. Create a custom field called "Previous Project" and use a workflow transitions add-on (JWME, ScriptRunner, etc.) to post the project name/key value to this custom field via a post function during issue creation Copy Now the value of the field will remain the same even if the issue is moved, and you can use JQL to search and find issues that were moved from the previous project name.
