bitbucket pipelines runner no such file or directory

Hi, I have this pipeline code

 

pipelines:
branches:
develop:
- step:
runs-on:
- self.hosted
- linux
deployment: staging
script:
- cd /var/www/html/dev/project

and it gives me this error
cannot access /var/www/html/dev/project: No such file or directory

The error message you have specified will usually display when the path that has been entered is incorrect, rather than anything related to permissions for that particular path.

So that you can troubleshoot why the path is not able to be found and verify that the directory you are trying to navigate to actually exists, I would suggest adding the following command to the build step to list only the directory names:

ls -d */

Once you have done so, check to see that the directory is correct - if it is - you may need to add a . character to your syntax to change directory depending on where the current working directory is:

cd ./var/www/html/dev/project
