Cloning an issue without adding custom field value

Question

Hello, We have a requirement where we do not want to have any value for a specific custom field while cloning an issue. We do not want to remove it later, it should not be added in the first place. The reason being, we track it in the history and wanted to pick the first set value of the issue.

This is for one of the custom fields in JIRA. Is this feasible?

Hi Charuta,

You will need to create a new issue, instead of doing a clone. You can do that through a post function in your workflow or using an add-on like Automation for Jira (free Lite version or paid Pro version). But you will have to list every field that you want to copy over from the initial issue. That's the only way I know of to accomplish what you want.
