Will Subtasks Inherit all the values of Parents Tasks ?

Hi All,

I wanted to know that if I have created a Sub-task, ideally it should inherit all the values of Parent Task , so my question is :

1. Do it inherit all the values of Parents Task

2. Will it be different for System Fields and Custom Fields ?

Can subtask inherit all the values from Parent Issue , be it system fields or custom fields ?

It do not inherit for any System nor CustomField value except for the system field Security Level. A Sub-task must have the same security level as his parent and you cannot update that.

You can use Automation for JIRA to push value from Parent to Sub-Task by listening to the field you want to pushed. I guess you don't want to push all of them otherwise I do not see the need for 2 differents task if they need to have the sames values for all fields.

Also logged time on sub-task can be count in the overall time spend at the task level without having to copy anything just a checkbox on the Time Tracking Panel of the parent.

Subtasks and their parents only have parent-child relations, they do not share or inherit any values. You have to implement it in order to inherit all values from parent to subtasks or you can search some third-party apps on the Marketplace.
