Cannot push source code to repository

Hello - When we try to push source code to our repository (git push origin master), we consistently encounter a prompt asking for credentials.  We're certain that we're entering the correct credentials, but we consistently see 'invalid credentials'.  This did work at one time.  We can log into the Bitbucket Web page fine with the same credentials.

Can anyone advise on why this might be happening?  We'd be grateful for any suggestions/guidance.  Thank you.

We have deprecated account passwords when using Basic authentication for Git over HTTPS and the Bitbucket Cloud REST API.

An account's password can be used when logging in to the website. However, if you clone/pull/push via HTTPS, you will need to authenticate with username and app password.

The Username is listed here https://bitbucket.org/account/settings/ after you log in to the account.

You will need to generate an app password for the account and use that instead of a password:

If you only need to clone/pull/push to repos, then an app password with permissions Repositories - Read and Repositories - Write should be enough.
