Is there a comprehensive list of all ira Align reports?

richard.n.pykkonen

I am looking for a source that contains all the current Jira Align reports with a brief description. I could go to each level of reporting like the link I copied below and do it that way. I am curious if anyone has already combined this into a single list.

Hi Richard,

There is not currently a comprehensive list of reports, but it's a great idea for a Community article.

What would you like to see in this list?

I've started with a basic list:

But I'm happy to work on it with your feedback!

Hey, @richard.n.pykkonen ! One of the better sources I have seen is from our friends at CPrime. This document is slightly dated, but it's a really good starting point.

Hi @Heidi Hendry I took a look at your list and like where you started. That is the approach I had started to take as well when I thought perhaps someone else already did it. I wanted a list of all the reports by hiearlchy like you did. I wanted to provide links to where more detailed information can be found like you did. I wanted the list to have a description that could be easily vieweed without having to click into the details. They would only go to the details if they needed more information.

My use case is this. My client wants a list of all the reports, with a brief description, and some type of indication how often it is used, how popular it is. They are new to Jira Align and need some direction. I have an idea of what I think are the most common reports at all the levels you shared. If you also happen to know if any of the reports are due to be discontinued in the future, that would be helpful. I just want to help them know where they should start with reports given that the volume can be overwhelming.

Hi @Rich Sparks , good connecting with you again. Thank you, that is a very well-documented subset of the reports and helpful. Do you happen to know which reports might be removed in the future? If you were trying to focus on the most impactful reports, which ones would you chose?

Rich Sparks

I don't have a handy list of what might be removed. I'd focus most on the Program and Portfolio level information, since we assume most folks in the delivery teams are in Jira and using all the appropriate Jira views.

Rich Sparks

One thing to consider is that no one person uses every (or even most) reports in Jira Align. Instead, people in different roles use reports that correspond to the Jobs they do. So if the person is an RTE or a Scrum-of-Scrums Master, they'll look more at the Program-level views. If the person is responsible for strategy or investment decisions, they'll look more at the Portfolio-level views.

Another factor is timing: The Feature Audit report and the Scope Change report are tremendously useful, but only toward the end of a planning cycle when the teams are trying to figure out how well they did with delivering items they planned. They're reports that definitely should be used, but they're probably of interest to certain roles, and only at certain times.

If your customer is new to Jira Align, I'd focus on the reports at the Program level, and I'd focus on the ones that help them understand their backlog, track the progress of the work of the programs, and go from there. The list that @Heidi Hendry did is awesome, but it could also be organized by jobs to be done.

That is a great idea and makes complete sense. In some cases, because they are so new, there is no data for the reports to showcase the true richness of some of the reports.
