Transferring attachments from a transition screen to a linked ticket

Hi community,

I need your help. We have been working intensively with JIRA and Jira service management for some time now, currently still in the server solution (on premise).

We use very often linked ticks in the workflows e.g. to be able to make an issue escalation in other departments. for this a new issue is automatically created from the workflow in another project and linked with the original issue. We work here with add ons and use groofy scripts.
In the screens of the transistions can be attached to attachments. I would like to transfer these attachments from the transition to the linked ticket in a poststep.
Unfortunately I can't get this to work. I don't have enough developer knowledge. Can you help me?

Hi @Christian Seuß ,

all you need to do is use

getTransitionAttachments()

as the value, and make sure to select "Groovy Expression" as the value type. getTransitionAttachments() indeed returns a List, but that's normal considering that there might be more than one attachment added during the transition.

Hi Nic, as written, I wanted to do this with a poststep.

"Poststep" does not tell us whether you are trying to use a post-function, listener, or automation. I know "Jira speak" is not intuitive and I do try to avoid it, but in this case, repeating "poststep" tells us nothing.

Could you tell us where you have been trying to do this? In Jira-speak?

I am sorry if I have expressed myself unclearly.
I already have several poststeps in this transition, which for example appends the comments entered in the transition screen (via ${transientVars.comment}) into a linked issue and performs a transition on the linked issue.

Now, for example, I want to use the "Set field value of related issues (JMWE app)" poststep to grab the attachments that were entered in the transition screen. Unfortunately, though, I don't know the best variables to use to do this. I found "getTransitionAttachments()". But that seems to return a list to me. It would be nice if you could help me with a code snippet in Groovy on how to process this list.
