Can you abort a build in bitbucket pipelines?

I would like to filter if I perform a build or not based on an external API call. Is there a way to abort and not report a build status in cases where I don't continue with the build past that step?

 

I could fail the build or skip every step after that to report success but I don't want a bunch of false success or false failure builds in my build history.

Hi Wayne and welcome to the community.

I'm afraid that this is not possible in Pipelines.

You could use an external server to make these API calls, and then, based on the output, trigger a Pipelines build via API or do nothing.

You can set up webhooks to send a request to your server, e.g. on every commit:

You can use custom Pipelines in your yml file (which will not get triggered automatically).

After you make the API call on your server, depending on the output, you can trigger a Pipelines build using the following endpoint:
