Unable to do Git Tag! Getting: remote: Your credentials lack one or more required privilege scopes

I had to change the account that was being used to perform git pull and git tag on a branch in a repo. For that I updated user.email, user.name and remote.origin.url git global config settings. Here is how I did it:

• git config --global user.email "email-id@email.com"
• git config --global remote.origin.url  "https://user_id@bitbucket.org/app/repo.git"

Since doing that even though I am able to pull code but tagging branch is giving me below error:

Password for 'https://new-user-id@bitbucket.org':
     [exec] remote: Your credentials lack one or more required privilege scopes.
     [exec] fatal: unable to access 'https://new-user-id@bitbucket.org/<path>/<repo>.git/': The requested URL returned error: 403
     [exec] Result: 128

Its an EC2 server instance where I am performing these git operations.

Please try to configure an App Password if you have not done so already to authenticate over HTTPS by following the documentation at this link, then updating your remotes to reflect this change:
https://support.atlassian.com/bitbucket-cloud/docs/app-passwords/#Create-an-app-password

• You will use your App Password alongside your username seperated with a ":" character.
• Therefore if you are authenticating to GIT over HTTPS to perform actions you will need to update your remote URL's to include the App Password:
  git remote set-url origin https://USERNAME:APP_PASSWORD@bitbucket.org/username/reposlug.git
• The same applies when performing git clone:
  git clone https://USERNAME:APP_PASSWORD@bitbucket.org/username/reposlug.git

If this fails, can you attempt to use SSH to authenticate and see if the same occurs?
