Use $date$ trigger in short form

Question

Is there a way to format the $date$ variable to just show month/day? I've looked and haven't been able to find it. The variable is being used in a canned response, particularly in the issue review field.

Yes thank you for that. I'm not sure how that works with response templates. When I try your resolution it just shows up as it does in the response content. Is there a way to format the $date$ variable to show in a different format?
