Database: JIRA couldn't connect to your database after update

Hi,

after updating Jira I get the following message: "Database: JIRA couldn't connect to your database" . Atlassian Jira service is running. Think we use the H2 database. I know its for evaluation. Bevor the update the H2 worked fine. The OS is Windows Server 2012. If you need any logs, please let me know.

A quick look at the logs would be needed to establish exactly why the database is not reachable. Start with <Jira home>/logs/atlassian-Jira.log - that should give us a pile of text that contains a detailed reason for the disconnect.

However, this is likely to tell us that your database is broken. H2 is not reliable, there's a good reason it tells you it is for dev/demo/test only - it can fail catastrophically without warning. It's more likely to fail as it grows in size or when it comes under heavy load (processes that write a lot, such as an upgrade)

But let's check the log first before we start worrying about broken databases.

I ve done the following things: create a VM snapshot, done 1st update run -> get the above mentioned error. revert to snapshot, done a 2nd update run -> get the above mentioned error.

Ok, that is almost certainly a damaged H2 database.

You'll need to install a clean Jira and restore from a backup.
