Show "Issues in Epic" in query result

Hi community,

in Epics, there is a field / area which is named "Issues in Epic". Here you can see all Tickets which are related to this one specific Epic.

When I create a query and search for all Epics in a specific project (like "project = projectABC AND type = epic") I cannot find this field "Issues in Epic" in the columns.

Is there any possibilitiy to get this information? Any plugin or workaround?

I know the query to show me all tickets under a specific epic ("Epic Link" = XXX-123) but this is not what I am looking for.

Do you guys have an idea how to solve my problem?

The field you are looking for is Epic Link.

Here is an example: key = ATJIRA-52 OR "Epic Link" = ATJIRA-52

This will display the Epic and all issues linked to it.

Do I understand correctly that you want you search results to show you the Epic, and show only the child issue IDs all in a single column in the line entry for that Epic, rather than include each child issue as another line item in the results list?

Are you looking for a results list that would be similar to what you would see if you added the Linked Issues column (showing all IDs for issues linked to the ones in your search criteria)?

yes, I guess this is exactly what I need.

And you can compare it to the column "linked issues". Thats what I am searching for. Just not for the linked issues but for the "issues in epic".

Do you know how this can be achieved?

unfortunately not.

This would only show me ONE epic with all the linked issues.

But I need to see all Epics in one project with an extra column "issues in epic".

The "issues in epic" is a field / area in an epic. but I cannot choose it as a column. thats my problem.

Unfortunately I do not know of a way to do this.

I don't believe there is anything built in to Jira that would do this, so you would have to look at adding an app from the Marketplace to your instance.

Alternately you might explore options for creating a custom field, and adding/removing child issue IDs to/from that custom field each time a child issue is added/removed from the Epic. Then you could display the custom field as a column in your search results.

as Trudy suggests an App will be of great help - the core question might be: do you already have Apps enrolled in your instance that are capable of supporting the use case?

We put together a plugin called Agile Docs which can do this.

You can select a filter which contains the Epics you want and Agile Docs will bring up those Epics and every issue under each Epic in a nested tree list.

This would be a very useful metric for me too, but I cannot figure out how to do it. (I know how to do it in Rally or TFS.)
