Delete Jira Logfiles

Question

Hello,

we want to regular run a job which deletes the complete content from C:\Program Files\Atlassian\JIRA\logs.

The plan is to first stop the service, delete all the files in the logs folder and then to start the service again.

So my question is, can we delete all of the content from JIRA\logs without doing any harm?

Hi Ronny,

As @Dave Bosman _Inetum_  mentioned, you can check the answer of Nic in the above link.

If you don't want to stop the services, i would suggest to just cleanup the logfiles that contain a date stamp, those can be removed without impact.

The one without a timestamp can't be removed while the services are running.

Just creating a shell script that removes all files older than X days should also do the trick.
