Issues not found with search for EMPTY after creating a new label custome field

Question

Hi,

I created a new custome field in Jira Software (server). Then I wanted to fill the field for all issues and searched for "New_field" is EMPTY. The result have been only issues which have been touched since the custome field was created.

Did I miss something while creating the custom field or is this a (known) issue?

If this is the way how it works; how can I touch all issues without having negative effects.

The Query is like "NEW_PARAMETER is EMPTY" and the untouched issues don't appear

What type of custom field have you created (text, label, select list, ...) and what does your search query (JQL) look like?
