Does Bitbucket (cloud) automatically create private personal repositories for members of workspace?

We're moving from Bitbucket server to Bitbucket cloud. When a new user is created in Bitbucket server edition, a personal private repository is created in conjunction with that user. However, it appears that this feature is not mirrored in the Bitbucket cloud edition.

I want to first, confirm this observed behavior.

And then second, attempt to replicate this desired feature. How should I proceed if users who are added to the Bitbucket cloud edition are expecting an automatic private repository?

Hi Timothy,

Your observation is correct. In Bitbucket Cloud, repositories are not created automatically for users when they create a Bitbucket account. However, this is not a built-in feature in Bitbucket Server either. Do you perhaps have some custom plugin that performs this operation in Bitbucket Server?

It's a fairly simple process for a user to create a Bitbucket Cloud repo, either in their personal workspace or in another workspace where they have permissions to do so:

If you'd be interested in such a feature, you can open a feature request in our issue tracker for our products managers to take into account:

In the meantime, my suggestion would be to communicate to your users that there is no automatic repo creation in Bitbucket Cloud, but they can manually create one in their personal workspace, if needed.
