Filter on parent epic

Question

Hi all,

I have a question regarding a filter that I am trying to set up.
I have an epic that I link to a specific component, now I am trying to create a filter that shows all issues linked to that epic (containing the component)
So I would like to use the component as reference in my filter.
Does anyone have a solution for this?

Hi,
With standard JQL you can only find children of specific epics.

Standard JQL doesn't easily allow it but the results can be found dynamically using our professional indexing service JQL Search Extensions.

You can find children of epics with a particular component:

issue in childrenOfEpicsInQuery("component='My component'")

issuefunction in linkedIssuesOf("project = ABC", "is Epic of") and compoent=Test - This JQL will display all issues associated with Epics that has a component value Test.

If you want to list issues without component as well, you can use

issuefunction in linkedIssuesOf("project = NTP", "is Epic of")

You can configure "Epic Link" as an column.

But this will not work if a new epic is made and added to that component.

That is why I would like to filter on component instead :-)
