/rest/api/2/issue/archive and /rest/api/2/issue/{issueIdOrKey}/archive

Hi Community,

found the two endpoints

• POST /rest/api/2/issue/archive and
• PUT /rest/api/2/issue/{issueIdOrKey}/archive

by chance (https://docs.atlassian.com/software/jira/docs/api/REST/8.5.1/).

The doc says: "Archives a list of issues.", which is not very much.

Can anybody explain me whats the deal with this two?

Didn't know there is an archiving option. Don't know it from the GUI and don't know what happens when do over REST. Didn't tested it on a staging env. yet. Can somebody explain.

We running a server instance.
