Have different sprints length for scrum teams in a program

Hello,

I hope this message finds you and your familly well.

We are facing a situation where some teams involved in an eazy agile program do not all have the same sprint lenght : some are 2 weeks, and some are 3 weeks, mostly.

Those teams have naturally chosen those different lengths because of their own constraints and best way of working.

Is it possible to configure this in eazy agile program? At that point of my investigations it seems that all teams must have the same sprint length, even if they manage their own sprints in their own jira project and board.

Nic is correct that Easy Agile Programs does not currently support teams running at different cadences.

Our understanding is that planning across teams working with different cadences is difficult to do.

It is not possible to do this. Whilst it's fine to have different teams running their scrums on a different cadence, it's impossible to do any useful form of cross-team reporting, let alone management, with any tool when you do this.

The teams are reporting differently on different things, so they simply can't be lumped together in the same reports.

If you're trying to work at scale with scrum teams, the second thing that is absolutely mandatory is to get them all on the same cadence. Every scrum team needs to running sprints at the same length and start/end days as all the others.

Only then can a reporting and management tool such as Easy Agile work properly.

I see your points and don't agree on some :

- When working with multiple scrum or kanban teams the important thing is sync/intergation points, that can be materialized in eazy agile with milestones.

- Then the most useful report is what value has been delivered at the end of the increment, and sprint lengths are not impled at all in this. User stories delivered, business values on the features are the most relevant things you need to report on.

I'm afraid that is not right.

Every scaled agile framework (and, for that matter, waterfall and other project management principles) clearly state that if you want to compare things, they have to be measured the same way.

The sync/integration points do, of course, matter, but you cannot report, compare or manage (together) two things that are doing the same thing report differently.

Looking at the two Agile methodologies we've mentioned, you can mix Scrum and Kanban teams fine - Kanban doesn't have a cadence and each work item effectively has a fixed measurable value, so it all fits with whatever you do with the Scrum teams. But it all falls apart if you have scrum teams on different cadences.

If you want to scale usefully, you have to have to be reporting in the same way, which can't do if you have different sprint sizes.
