Why am I unable to edit the story point estimate of a user story or task?

Hi,

I dont see the ability/permission to update the story point estimate that I would have given for a story or task. Why is that? 

It might happen that I might have given a high level estimate at the start of the release, but during sprint planning, I realise the story is more complex and hence need to increase the story point count. So, I need to edit the story point field. But I see that it is not editable.

Can someone help me understand why this field is uneditable?

Hi @Vijay Kumar,

There is a good chance that the Story Point field is simply not on the edit screen of stories. This is definitely not a limitation of Jira, but a configuration issue. That may be by accident or a process decision.

In your project settings, navigate to screens, and find out which screens are being used for stories/tasks. Look for the Edit screen and add the story points field if it's not there.
