how do I check why Jira isn't opening after being installed in macOS?

Hello all,

I am really new at this whole Jira software world. I downloaded the software and follow the instructions as good as I could, check some installation tutorials and it seems like I did everything correct, however when I put localhosts:8080 the site doesn't load "failed to open page", then I checked another tutorial that suggested to change it to localhost:8090, I did that again and still got the same result. I don't want to do anything else because I'm afraid I could do something bad.

What should I do?

Walter,

  I am assuming that you installed the Jira trail version on iOS.  Did you follow all of the instructions found here: https://confluence.atlassian.com/adminjiraserver/evaluation-installation-938846832.html

Please double check and make sure that you ran the proper sudo commands and used the express installer.  You should also make sure that it is not being blocked by antivirus software that has a firewall.

You should also check the Jira logs and make sure that it started properly.  

• For UNIX server : If the directory name is JIRA. You can access logs at JIRA/logs/catalina.out and JIRA/home/log/atlassian-jira.log. In case you do not find the files, trigger the below commands in the UNIX terminal which would fetch the list of logs files path.
• find / -name "atlassian-jira.log" 2>/dev/null
• find / -name "catalina.out" 2>/dev/null
