How to change button layout in JIRA detail screen (View Issue)

Hi all,

I want to rearrange buttons in View Issue screen. I would like to change "Assign" with "Link" (that's available in More dropdown) and rearrange workflow buttons (i.e. we don't use Resolve, usually we Close with resolution anyway, I would lik to put "On hold" or "Review" there for example). If it would be possible I would like to customize it even more but these two would help our workflow.

I didn't find anything up to date, maybe I was not looking with the proper query, only found some solutions from 2012 or 2016, which include modifying jar files i.e. https://community.atlassian.com/t5/Jira-questions/Can-I-change-button-layout-on-the-view-issue-screen/qaq-p/24405

I'm working with Jira Server 8.0.2 was someone able to achieve this?

Actually, that part has not changed, your searching landed you the right answer.  The layout of the buttons and menu is still controlled by their "weight" in the property files embedded in the .jar files.  So you'd need to unpack, tweak, re-pack (and bear in mind you would be unsupported and have to repeat on every upgrade)
