Updating data via CSV Import

I am trying to update existing issues via External System CSV Import. 

I have followed the documentation listed in the Importing data from CSV documentation: https://confluence.atlassian.com/adminjiraserver/importing-data-from-csv-938847533.html including setting the Issue Key. 

Every time I run the import, it skips the existing issues (all of them) instead of updating them. It even says in the log that the issue already exists so it's skipping it. 

In the wizard, it says because I have Issue Key mapped that it will update instead of creating a new issue, however it never updates or creates a new issue. It always just skips everything entirely. 

 

Any advice?

You need to have at least the "Key" and "Summary" mapped in order to update issues via CSV.  Whatever you have the Summary set to will replace what is on the issue.  So, don't just make a generic Summary and fill down the column in the CSV or all your Summaries will be clobbered.
