In order to export Jira issues in form of a CSV/ Excel file, just search for the relevant issues using filters/ JQL and then use the "Export" button to get access to all the export options.
Next select the option "Export Excel CSV" to export the issues.

One other, more professional approach for exporting Jira Cloud issues to Excel is Better Excel Exporter for Jira Cloud!

This approach is very cumbersome because it doesn't organize issues by Epic or Story

The base design of Jira is the power to have real-time data VS stale data from exports that are typically no longer accurate moments after the export is performed.
There are various Marketplace Apps which extend the data interactions from within the UI that provide a lot of additional power to interact with the data real-time.
In efforts to help reduce pricing sprawl by adding features that not all customers desire and which would increase pricing we offer the Atlassian Marketplace for more customized needs. This allows base pricing to be low while allowing the various customers options to extend functionality.
If you access the Marketplace (Atlassian Marketplace ), select your Product (Jira) and Hosting Type (Cloud or Data Center) with a search term of "BI" you will find many options and information regarding functionality, ratings, count of installs, pricing and more.

The built-in export works well for raw data, but once you need something more structured (especially for sharing), it gets tricky.
We’ve been working on a Forge-based export app focused on keeping formatting and additional data in real Excel (.xlsx) file on separate sheets (custom .xlsx templates allowed)—happy to share if that’s useful.
