Jira Server - send notification for specific update to priority field

I am using Jira Server installation.

The problem I am trying to solve is to let my lead developers know as soon as the business have raised an issue with the priority set to "Blocker" or have updated an existing issue with this status.

This could happen at any stage in the workflow so don't want to use post function as I have global transitions and would have to update all of the transitions I believe.

I looked at custom events but couldn't see any way to add specific logic e.g. if priority set to blocker send email, else no email (like in the service desk automation)

Any ideas of other solutions to this problem?

Hello @Louise Simmonds using automation for Jira should allow you to monitor changes on that field and notify whenever the condition is met. If you don't have budget for it you could do the following to make it more likely that the lead developers will be aware of this scenario. 

• Add a swimline in the board they work at
• Have a board specific for the blockers
• Create a dashboard and show those tickets as a query result
• Subscribe them to a query that shows those issues
