Restrictions in using Issue Links

If I have an issue linked to multiple issues (~ 5000), will it lead to performance issues in editing or performing any other operation in that issue?

Yes there could be performance issues. Especially when you are doing some automation that requires updates across all the linked issues.

Why do you have 5000 linked issues to one issue?
