When working with custom fields, I'd like to understand what triggers a re-index
Thank you in advance...
According to KB Once issues have been created, modifying the configuration of your Jira instance can result in the search index becoming out-of-sync with Jira's configuration. Configuration details such as the following can affect the search index:
If you make changes to any of these areas of configuration, you might see a perform reindex message in your Administration view
Back to your question now..- Adding a custom field triggers a reindex- Editing a custom field like changing Name doesn't require a reindexing, but changing searcher may require reindexing , and editing the configuration also requires reindexing (eg. choosing applicable issuetypes or projects)- Deleting a custom field doesn't require Reindexing (I would not suggest you to delete a custom field, rather change the scope of the cf)- Enabling a custom field like adding cf to screens would not require you to reindex.
You can read about the search indexing here, and about the index process here
Best,Sachin.
Thanks!!
What about adding, editing, deleting, disabling, enabling custom field values? (not the field itself...)
Actions like add, edit ,and disable custom field options do not require reindexing but delete does require a reindexing.. since deleting a custom field option removes all matching values from all issues.
thanks....we're trying to limit actions that require re-indexing to specific days. And knowing what triggers a reindex is helpfull.
