Hello All,
We are facing a duplicate email notification issue for which any help ideas will be greatly appreciated. So we have a Google group, which is used to broadcast a mail to a set of folks. Now we want to capture this discussion in a Jira tkt and allow multiple ways to participate in the discussion. For this we have added this group email to the watcher of the Jira tkt and also we have added Jira's mail as a member of the group. Now following scenarios are possible and we want all these to work
- Users go to Jira tkt and post a comment. Jira sends the notification to the group as it is in watchers, everyone gets notified. This case works well.
- Users send mail to Jira's mail, which gets posted to Jira as a comment and notification goes to watchers and everyone gets notified. This case also works well unless the user is in reporter, assignee or watchers of the Jira tkt, in which case user receives 2 notifications - one from Jira directly and another from the group.
- Users reply to the group mail, it broadcast the message to all members including Jira, a comment gets posted in Jira and it sends notification to all watcher so group gets the mail from Jira and everyone receives the same message twice now, one from the original message on group and another one from the reflected message from Jira back to the group.
We do need #3 also to work. One solution I can think is, if somehow we can suppress the comment notification event when the comment comes from the group mail then we can cut the loop. Is there anyway to conditionally suppress comment notification?
Or, does anyone have an alternative solution?
Thanks.
