Question

First time doing a jira software upgrade from 7.8.1 to 8.4, any documentations would be highly appreciated.

Hi,

I would start with:

https://www.google.com/search?q=jira+upgrade+8

especially:

https://confluence.atlassian.com/jiracore/preparing-for-jira-8-0-975041026.html

Upgrading from 7 to 8.x should be pretty straightforward, but make sure you meet the platform requirements (Database, OS,...) for Jira 8 & check for incompatible addons.

Best
