Unable to reuse an existing variable in a template

I have created user-defined templates on Confluence Cloud in the past. In these templates, I often created a new text variable and reused it via "$variableName" in later text to auto-populate the user-supplied value. This no longer works.  

Typing "$" does not work on the new editor and I don't see a keystroke that will enable this feature either. 

Using

• Confluence 1000.0.0-11e909e1050d

• Chrome: Version 79.0.3945.88 (Official Build) (64-bit)

According to this page for Confluence Cloud

"Type $ and the variable name, then press Enter to add a new variable or to select an existing variable from a list of suggestions. The suggestions dialog shows variables already defined in this template."

Thank you for reporting this to us.

This case has been logged as the following bug:

• CONFCLOUD-68872 Typing $ to create or list template variables does not work

At this time, there is no known workaround in the new editor. If you need to be able to use the legacy editor and don't have the option, I recommend you contact the Cloud Support team and they can help you with that.
