How to trigger script listener only when status is changed in an issue

Question

Is it possible to trigger a script listener only when a transition is made and status is changed using 'Issue Updated' event?

We tried the below line of code. Did not work:
def change = event?.getChangeLog()?.getRelated("ChildChangeItem")?.find

{it.field == "status"}

if (change) {
log.error "Value changed from ${change.oldstring} to ${change.newstring}"
// your actions if the field has changed }

We have also tried getting issue current status using issue?.status.name and previous status using originalIssue.status.name on the issue update event. But these also didn't work as the issue?.status.name is giving the previous status and not the current one.

Kindly let us know if we are doing something wrong here.

* Create a custom Event type "Issue Status Changed". * If you want you may skip this and just use " Issue Updated" in below steps

* Edit Post Functions on workflows and steps where you want to observe the status changed* last Post Function is "Fire a Generic event event that can be processed by the listeners"
* Edit it [pencil icon]
* change the generic event there to your custom type event
* Choose template "Issue Updated Event"
* Note that by default you should use standard events for respective transition in general, e.g. "Issue Resolved" event for transition to Status that belongs to "Done" category.
* Note #2 the above is not done auto-magically for custom workflows (pity :-( )

* In the Listener select your custom event to be listened for* Note: for getting the Change object you may use 
* def change = event?.getChangeLog()?.getRelated("ChildChangeItem")?.find { it.field == "status" }

I've managed to solve this following way:

import com.atlassian.jira.component.ComponentAccessor
import com.atlassian.jira.issue.Issue

def issue=event.getIssue() // get issue which triggered listeneer

// this below is list of updates of <issue>

def changeItems = ComponentAccessor.getChangeHistoryManager().getAllChangeItems(issue)
def lenght = changeItems.size() // lenght of this list

// and you want to check last update (thats why lenght-1)
// .getProperties() gives you readable informations
// and then you want to know, what field was updated
// aaaaand if this field was "status", listener does his job

if(changeItems[lenght-1].getProperties()["field"] == "status"){

// YOUR CODE HERE

}

Hi @SWAPNIL SRIVASTAV,

You can try out below option or workaround to achieve your requirement

1. Add "All Issue Events" in event mapping

2. Condition to run your action only for transitions event

if(event.getEventTypeId() == 13){

//your code for the action if event is transition

}

else no action will be performed even if listener called for other events

FYI, Issue updated event's ID is 2 which will not work for transitions as per my knowledge
