What is the suggested timeline for Jira Server Version upgrade - Ver 7.0 to the latest Version?

Question

How long should it take if Jira Software (Server) needs to be upgraded from Version 7.0 to the latest Version?

Petr Vaníček · Answer

@Vinay Sharma  also check release notes of all released versions (https://confluence.atlassian.com/jirasoftware/jira-software-release-notes-776821069.html) and supported platforms especially for changes in supported DBMS (https://confluence.atlassian.com/adminjiraserver076/supported-platforms-945110772.html - version switcher in upper right corner)

Hi,

*  Make test environment and try it first on that.
* My recommended upgrade path is 7.0 -> 7.6 -> 7.13 -> 8.6 and if you don't have too much customizations like groovy script then weekend maintenance windows should be more than enough. My estimation is around 10 hpurs of work if nothing wrong will happen.
