Bulk import emails to Jira

Question

Is there a way to create issues in Jira from emails, in bulk?  We have about 1,000 emails that we want to import to Jira and create a Jira issue for each email.  I know if can be done by exporting the emails from Outlook to a CSV file, and then importing the CSV file to Jira. But, we also want to capture any file attachments in the emails.  I have used mail handlers to create Jira issues based on forwarding emails individually.  Is there a way to do a bulk import/forward/transfer of emails and create the issues in Jira while also adding attachments to the Jira issues?

Bill,

I have done this with IMAP and we had to create a rule to forward all of the emails.  If the date the email was received is after the date of the email handler it will pick it up.  If it is older then the date the email hander is setup then it will pull the emails in.  I have not used POP but would assume it is similar.
