Am I able to have sub-tasks be created having the same status as their parent?

Question

I would like to be able to create sub-tasks that have the same status as their parent.

When creating a sub-task on a task board it would be useful as the sub-tasks would appear nested immediately under the parent issue. From here they can be moved independently.

Is there any way to setup the a workflow to do this?

Is this really true?  Seems I have this working in my development environment (don't know how), but it's not working in my prod environment (don't know why).  We're using version 6.4.8.

It is not possible have subtasks to have the same status of Parent on creation. The initial status is always the one you configure when creating the workflow and this cannot change dynamically.
