Difficulties setting the validator of a field to see if modified during transition

Hey Guys,

I've had difficulty setting the validation for if field value is modified during a transition. What've done so far is, added a validator from QA to Sign Off wherein if time spent is where I've added my validation i.e from transitioning to QA to Sign Off time spent should be entered/updated. I get the alert if the time spent is not updated. However, I'm still getting the alert even if the time spent is entered in this transition. I tried adding screens too but that also didn't work.

Any possible solutions for me?

I wanted you to know that I moved this reply into its own question. It just felt like it was different enough that it shouldn't be answered in the thread of the other post.

I understand that you are having a problem with a validator in your workflow. However I'm unclear of the details here. What field is using the QA and Sign Off values? Could you post us a screenshot of your validator settings? I might help us to better understand your specific environment and this situation to be able to offer more help here.

Hi Anand,

I tried to recreate your validator problem here. Something I noticed here, you can set a validator on the system field called 'Time Spent', however on the transition screen you will need to make sure that you add the system field called 'Work Log' in order to make this 'modify field value validator' functional.

With most other fields in Jira the name of the field is the same in both validator and screen, but for the sake of time spent, this is being measured off the Jira work logs. Furthermore, in this case you would have to place this Work Log field on a transition screen. A transition screen is the only way that this validator could work properly to allow users to enter/change a value when the issue is transitioned.

It worked perfectly fine. I think the other mistake which i was doing is, under screens, i had added time tracking instead of log work.
