Has anyone thought about restricting edit access to the ranking field ? As a product owner, you may want to have some assurance that only a limited number of people can change the order in which stories will be developed.
Looking at https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/GHS-1787, there's been a lot of discussion around this.
My reading of this issue is that it isn't possible to do for the classic boards, as that would require Field-Level permissions in JIRA. However, it sounds like it has been implemented for the global ranking on the new rapid boards, and is determined by the Schedule Issues permission.
