Throwback Thursday: Longest car trip you've been on? #TBT

It's Thursday!
giphy
Last month, I drove from Utah to the other end of Nebraska. 14 hours in the car. We only stopped twice, which is amazing!
Longer yet was when we moved from snowy Utah to sunny Florida in 2019. That was one heck of a trip! Here is a time laps video of it.
Soooo, what is the longest car trip you´ve been on?
Let’s make it a great Thursday! KGM

My longest car trip is from Estonia Tallinn to Lithuania Palanga. It's like 570 km and take about 10 hours with eating stop.

Probably in Baltic states we have smaller distance than in West Europa or in North America.

Hello! I live in Buenos Aires and my daughter in Puerto Madryn with her mom. The distance between those two cities are 1392Km (almost 900 miles). Each year I go there no less than 4 times, some ot them on a plane but most of those in my car. It takes me about 15 hours of driving, stopping only for fuel refill and lunch (and some coffe on the way too) .
I did that trip in my bike one time, but doing a stop halfway and spend the night in Bahia Blanca after driving 700Km.

But longest one on my books was a round trip in 2006 with this itinerary: Buenos Aires, Viedma, Puerto Madryn, Esquel, Bariloche, Buenos Aires. Almost 5000Km (around 3100 miles) in a Renault Twingo. It was a really fun trip

That one is easy! Drove from Nashville, TN to Kalispell, MT - 2036 miles (3277 km)

We did it over 3 days driving roughly 10 hours per day. We got to see a lot of the US and stopped to see a few things along the way. We also, of course, had to drive back a week later! And got to see even more sights.  :-)

I love road trips!

In 2006, I rode from Seattle to LA... via Vegas, Meteor Crater, and Joshua Tree Park which was quite a detour from the typical West Coast track. Three weeks at a relaxed tempo. I stopped counting the mileage when replacing a 2006 Taurus with a cylinder issue with an Equinox, but it was around 8000 km (5K miles)

One day I did way over 1000 km (600 miles), I literally fell out from the car at the motel's parking lot.

When I lived in London, UK, I drove to east of Slovakia to see my parents and back, every year, doing well over 4000 km spending more time on the road and sightseeing 'round Europe than with my parents. But it was a great way to see places.. ever been to Vaduz, Lichtenstein? :)

Driving in Europe in a British car with the steering wheel on the wrong side provided an extra kick, paying at toll booths was particularly funny :)

I have a summer birthday and the year I was turning 9 my parents took myself and my sister on a two week road trip from London, Canada down to Walt Disney World in Florida.  We made a number of stops along the way so we got to see some of the fun sights along the way (like the Coca-Cola museum).

It was 2062km/1281.mi drive one way so it was quite the adventure!

Not me, but my sister; Brisbane to Perth.

Apparently, the shortest route between Brisbane and Perth is 2,679.24 mi (4,311.83 km) with a driving time of approx. 62h 21min.

My longest was half that for work, so 2 of us shared the driving from London to Lisbon, and Google says the shortest route between London and Lisbon is 1,359.12 mi (2,187.29 km) with approximately 23 hours driving, which seems about right from memory

Although we did drive back again a week later, so maybe we did do about the same distance overall as my sister!

hi, two years ago we went to Legoland in Germany and on the way back home we wanted to stay for another night somewhere in Saxony and visit some more interesting places but it was raining all the time and the forecast for the next few days were the same - more rain so we decided to go home. Due to the weather and a lot of traffic jams (even at midnight!) we arrived at home after about 16 hours in the car... Pretty heavy trip...

The most extended trip by car was from Sanremo (Italy) back home to Koblenz (Germany). All stops included, it takes me about 13 hours.

When I think about it today... what a crazy ride :D

Longest drive I've done is home from a Rammstein concert in Hamburg, back in 2012 or something.

Worked 8-16, drove from just north of Århus, Denmark, to Hamburg, went to an intense concert, and then drove back home.

We had to crash at my sisters boyfriend at the time before making it all the way back to Århus.

It was only a total of around 600km, but it felt like a lot longer.

Wow, driving from Utah to Nebraska with just two stops, wow!!

My longest car trip was around 14 hours as well, approximately 725 miles. We traveled from Cambridge (UK) to Bournemouth, then to Land's End (Cornwall), followed by Bristol and Bath, and finally back to Cambridge. We made four stops along the way, taking the time to explore each city. It was a memorable trip, and although it was tiring, it was definitely worth it.

Hope you have a fantastic Thursday too! 🚗

Edmonton to Toronto. I moved for a job and I took the car and all my stuff on a long trip there. 3200 KM I think. Drove 8 hours a day, below 80km/h. Rain, prairies, storms, deers crossing the road. fun stuff.

We crossed the US from Minnesota to New Mexico and Arizona when I was a kid.  I believe we stopped somewhere in Kansas for the evening.

Did that a few times over the years.   First time was in the back of a truck with a topper in the middle of winter.  Lots of blankets and a fan put in the passthrough between the cab and the topper so the heat would blow into the back.  Luckily we just needed to get beyond the snow belt, and once we were past Iowa, it wasn't as cold.

That was back in the day where seat belts weren't encouraged as much as they are now.  I would lay on my back and stare out the Topper window and watch the stars as we're cruising down the interstate.

My last trip was when my brother and I were transporting a car back from there.  Certainly a different trip from 30 years prior.

My longest car trip was when I was 9 yrs old, my family took our motorhome on a 17 day adventure from Ohio to California, traveling through Indiana, Missouri, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Texas, New Mexico, and Arizona and back home via Nevada, Utah, Colorado, Kansas, Missouri, and Indiana.  We put over 6000 miles (9656 km) into the trip.

You might laugh at this, but my longest car trip was... 13 km 😂. I get really bad car sickness and can never go far by car. That 13 km trip was with my boyfriend and his family—the first time traveling with his parents—and, yep, I was seriously sick but tried so hard to hold it together. They were all super supportive, of course, but it’s still a bit embarrassing to think about now 🥲

I went through several years when I moved from place to place doing contract work (before work-from-home was a thing). My longest drive was from a job in Manchester, New Hampshire, to one in Bentonville, Arkansas, which is about 1550 miles (about 2500 km). I'm sure I stopped for the night somewhere along the way, but it was 23 hours of driving in 2 days.

My immediate family and I lived in Kettering, Ohio from 1992-1997. We moved from Midwest City, OK which is where all of our family lived. So, instead of exercising the perfectly reasonable option of flying, my family would pile into a 1993 Dodge Conversion van--with two kids <10yrs old, 1 dog, and 1 cat--and drive every Christmas.

That is 846 miles/1,043 kilometers and 14 hours in a van. Double this if you want the roundtrip. The only redemptive memory I have about this is we got McDonald's breakfast. This was our cyclical road trip gauntlet.

The longer trip I have was only one way: I piled my entire life and cat in a U-Haul and drove 21 hours to move from OKC to LA. I took 2 days to do it: After 15-16 hrs on Day 1, the Grey Potato and I slept in a Kingman, AZ Walmart parking lot b/c Walmart allows overnights in cars; I am WAY too cheap for a hotel. Day 2 was only 4-5 hrs to get into LA.

I have to say, the two more beautiful unsung states my family and I respectively drove through was Tennessee in the Autumn when we lived in Ohio; on my drive to LA, Arizona was beautiful in the morning with the sun rising over the desert, that was really cool to see.

My longest car trip lasted almost two weeks (with stops, of course). With friends, we decided to travel from New York City to San Francisco. Amazing time! :) As it was a car trip, we were deciding which cities to visit and how long to stay there

I love road trips.  I recently drove from Denver, CO to Portland, OR, but that wasn't my longest.

The longest was a trip from Denver to Florida, all along the Florida coast to Key West, back up to the Space coast and up to Washington DC, then back to Denver via Minneapolis.   I count this as a single road trip as we never stopped in any one place for a full day.

Some reason the kids never wanted to go on road trips with me anymore.

I am currently restoring a 1976 Plymouth Gran Fury station wagon to do a number of road trips next year.

Here's me thinking 500km is long and people here doing 1k just for fun 😅
Jokes aside, I think that was the longest trip I've been to - when I was a kid we went to the seaside each summer, and each trip was something around 500km.

As I'm not a fan of flying and as next year I'm planning to go to Belgium (from Croatia), I'm thinking of going on the biggest road trip yet which would be around 1300km.

Hm.  I think it was probably from Rohnert Park, CA to Waxahachie, TX several years ago.  Moved my bf out there for a temp work gig.  We take a lot of road trips (MO > IL > KY > TN, TX > NOLA, TX > OK > KS > CO > UT > NV > CA) Also did CA > Kalispell, MT in 2018 @John Funk beautiful area.  I love road trips...

Assuming only self-driven journeys are counted, I completed a total of 2400 kilometers in 6 days, averaging approximately 400 kilometers per day spread across in Madhya Pradesh, Gujrat, and Rajasthan.
