i'm actually looking for plug in to update Status colors in Jira core and flow through to Big Picture. 

I've tried "New Status Colors PRO" but I couldn't get it working in BigPicture.

I had the same some weeks ago.

I thing that Big Picture uses its own colors, so it is not configureable.

Unfortunately, it is not possible for BigPicture to use custom issue status colors configured by another plugin.

Alternatively, I encourage you to take a closer look at Task Coloring options introduced in BigPicture 8. While this does not meet your expectations in full, it still may improve your experience with the product.
